Nintendo Wii & Stim Room

Since September we've introduced two new areas to the class - a Stim Room and a Nintendo Wii Area!

Our Stim Room is a blackened out corner of the class which has lots of different lights and glow in the dark things in. It's purpose is to stimulate the children (hence the name), and develop speaking and listening skills.
The children are thoroughly enjoying going into the dark to tell stories; reflect; explore with different lights and let their imaginations run wild!!

Our Nintendo Wii has been set up on the Whiteboard in Early Years base one and is VERY popular at the moment! We've got Wii Sports up and running with two controllers. The aim of the area is to develop and improve control & co-ordination, social skills, mathematical development and speaking & listening skills.
The children have to sign up to use the Wii and can have one game per day of either bowling or tennis. Once well established we hope to purchase Just Dance Kids and The Brain Game!

If any parents want to see the Wii or Stim Room in action please just let us know!

  1. Do you realize how much luck do your class have?

Portuguese children would love to have one of those in their classroom! :D

I will definitely show this photo to my colleagues; otherwise they won't believe me.;)

    Best wishes
